Often used for keyword themes or segments.
Generated URL
Enter a valid URL to generate your tracking link.
When tools are not enough
If conversions don’t match reality, attribution looks random, or GA4 feels unreliable, it’s usually a setup issue (domains, redirects, consent mode, tagging).

UTM Builder FAQ

Short answers to the questions people search for before using UTMs.

What are UTM parameters?

UTMs are tags added to a URL so GA4 can show where traffic came from (source, medium, campaign).

What is the difference between utm_source and utm_medium?

Source is the platform (google, facebook, newsletter). Medium is the channel type (cpc, paid_social, email).

Do I need UTMs for Google Ads if I have gclid?

Not strictly, but UTMs make reports readable and help when click IDs are missing because of privacy or redirects.

What is the best UTM naming format?

Use lowercase, underscores, and stable naming. Example: winter_offer_2026.

Should I use utm_term for keywords?

Usually no. Keep utm_term for keyword themes or audience segments. Keyword-level reporting belongs in the ad platform.

How do I track links in WhatsApp, email, or QR codes?

Use UTMs the same way. Change source and medium to match the channel (whatsapp/social, newsletter/email, offline/qr).
